Blood Simple Scene Recreations

Our Video Cinematography & Lighting class did a series of tests to compare various cameras and to better understand how each works. We recreated and shot a scene from The Coen Brother’s film ‘Blood Simple’ four times, each using a different type of camera or frame rate. (SD 30, SD 24p / HDV / 16mm)
The whole class set up lights for the scene, which was the same in all four takes; while each version’s cinematography was decided by the individual director.
The scene from the original script we used can be found here.

Lighting Exercise: Recreating a Painting

This video is a lighting assignment our class worked together on, attempting to recreate the lighting in Rembrandt’s painting ‘Christ at Emmaus.’ The video demonstrates in sequence each light to show how the placement effects the set.
Shot on a Sony VX-2100 camcorder at 30fps.
